Help swimmers recognize when normal soreness becomes a problem.
Most injuries don’t appear overnight; they build. These are the signals I watch for now.Â
A sharp localized pain, or pain that shows up earlier each session, is a red flag.Â
Soreness is normal; persistent pain that doesn’t settle with light movement isn’t.
If you unconsciously ‘protect’ a joint, you’re compensating and spreading the problem.Â
Noticeable weakness, clicking, or loss of motion should be checked early.
These signs can indicate irritation beyond normal training stress. Don’t ignore them.
Tip: If pain is sharp, worsening, affecting daily life, causing numbness/tingling, or lasting more than a week despite reduced training, it’s worth seeing a qualified professional (physio, sports medicine, athletic therapist).Â
Noticing warning signs is important, but knowing exactly how I respond is what keeps me healthy. Click here to learn more →Â
